How can you tell whether AI will help your business?
Choose a recurring task where someone can judge whether the output is useful. Start with the work and information needs rather than choosing a model or buying an AI platform.
Find a task worth investigating
Document sorting, drafting, internal knowledge search and invoice-processing assistance are possible starting points. Describe who does the work, what information exists and what takes time. Check whether ordinary automation or better routines would be sufficient.
Check data, access and responsibility
Assess which information may be used, where it is processed and who needs access. Poor source material can limit results. Decide what a person must review and what should happen when AI cannot provide a sufficiently good answer.
Test against explicit criteria
Collect representative examples, including difficult exceptions. Define how to evaluate quality, correction work, response time and cost. Compare with the current process. An impressive demonstration is not enough to justify production use.
Roll out when the whole process works
A prototype is not automatically a production solution. Permissions, integrations, logging, failure handling and ongoing evaluation need planning. An agent should perform only agreed steps with appropriate checks.
