Case: vehicle registries and national-scale logistics
Vehicle registries and connected logistics at national scale.
Team experience with a transport system connecting approximately 500,000 tracking devices concurrently. Vehicle imports, VIN checks and national registries are linked with hardware developed by the team, smart registration plates and continuous telemetry for public and private fleets.

The challenge
A vehicle needs to be traceable throughout its lifecycle: from import, documentation and VIN checks to registration, equipment installation and fleet operation. Public organizations and private companies need reliable vehicle records and a shared view of how their vehicles are used. The system also needs to check that a registration plate belongs to the correct vehicle and handle large, continuous streams of vehicle data.
Our contribution
The team works across software and tracking hardware it develops: software engineering, hardware design and manufacturing, and installation of devices in vehicles. Registration workflows, equipment inventory, installation coordination and service booking are connected with telemetry collection and processing. The experience also includes multi-year responsibility for servers, infrastructure, operations and support – from the device in the vehicle to centralized information processing.
The solution
Approximately 500,000 tracking devices are connected simultaneously, sending large volumes of API messages about positions and journeys, routes and nearby equipment scans. Vehicle-mounted equipment reads smart registration plates. The data is sent to central servers to check the association between a plate and its vehicle and identify discrepancies that may indicate theft or counterfeiting. This works alongside digital import administration, VIN checks and a national registry of vehicles, owners and registration plates.
The result
A connected solution for vehicle administration, identification and operational logistics at national and corporate scale. Registry data and telemetry support route planning, analysis of travelled routes and fleet review for different public organizations and private companies. The current environment connects approximately 500,000 tracking devices concurrently. The architecture is designed for a planned expansion to approximately 2 million devices.

Tracking hardware designed and manufactured by the team, smart registration plate scanning, identification of nearby equipment and server-side checks against vehicle and VIN records. Large streams of API messages containing positions, journeys and scan data are received and processed centrally. Approximately 500,000 tracking devices are connected concurrently in the current environment. The architecture is designed for the planned expansion to approximately 2 million devices.
